Abstract
A study was performed to demonstrate that the apparently paradoxical effect of two losing games combining to produce a winning game also applies to combinations of two history-dependent games. Expressions were derived for the regions of the parameter space in which the effect is observed for both random and periodic combinations of these games. Hence, the understanding of the Parrondo effect was expanded by demonstrating its existence for new combinations of history-dependent games.
