Abstract

To the Editor: In his editorial on the use of vinca alkaloid-loaded platelets in the treatment of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (April 19 issue),1 Dr. Rosse refers to our paper2 in suggesting that vincristine may be more effective than vinblastine because vincristine is less likely to elute from platelets. We would like to report the results of our further clinical experience with vincristine-loaded platelets, as well as our in vitro studies of the binding of vincristine and vinblastine to platelets; both our clinical and in vitro findings support the use of vincristine.
