Abstract
An unusual case of postoperative apical myocardial infarction is reported, in which serial electrocardiograms showed the clearcut disappearance of abnormal Q waves in 48 hours, and the normalization of the tracing within a week. The differential diagnosis, with some rare instances of pulmonary embolism which mimic an anterior wall myocardial infarction, is discussed as well as the pathogenesis of the disappearance of Q waves in the course of a myocardial infarction.
