Two optimal encodings for three layer BAMs

A Three Layer Bidirectional Associative Memory (TLBAM) and two novel encoding methods, the binary hidden layer encoding and non-binary hidden layer encoding methods, are proposed. The proposed encoding methods require two correlation matrices with only (288 × 3 × 280 =) 1,704 elements. It is proven that both methods guarantee correct recalling of encoded pairs. Activation functions are also proposed that make TLBAM fault-tolerant.
