Abstract

A case of a 45-year-old man affected by androgenetic alopecia who received implantation of monacrylic hair fibers, and developed painful abscesses at the fiber implantation sites is presented. The surgical treatment was to place a U-shaped tissue expander bilaterally in the occipital and parietal area of the scalp. At the end of the expansion, three flaps were fashioned and used to repair the area affected by the chronic infection.
