Theory of the Jahn-Teller-Kondo effect

There is a Kondo effect associated with ions such as Cu2+ which have an orbital doublet in a cubic field. The ground state is a Jahn-Teller-Kondo singlet which can have a characteristic energy 104 cm-1. This large energy might stabilize the pseudocubic site recently observed in YBa2Cu3O7.
