The ground state of the kagomé lattice - a new auxiliary particle approach

Abstract

The two dimensional kagomé lattice is studied using a system of bond auxiliary particles. At the level of second order perturbation theory, the ground state energy is -0.42J while the best numerical results give -0.43377J. There is a broken symmetry reflecting a periodic sequence of dimers.
