Abstract

A syntactic recognition and classification system of auditory brainstem responses (ABRs) is developed for neurological diagnosis. The system is implemented using context-free, type-2 phrase-structure grammar for the categorization of waveforms. The present system consists of preprocessing routines, tables for wave latency comparison and 224 rewrite rules. Testing with neurologically normal and abnormal waveforms shows acceptable accuracy and indicates methods for improvement.
