"Surfactochromic" conjugated polymers: Surfactant effects on sugar-substituted PPEs

Abstract

An overview is given of the influence of surfactants on the emissive properties of a water-soluble sugar-substituted poly(p-phenyleneethynylene) (PPE). It is emphasized that emissive properties of a water-soluble polymer such as PPE can be easily manipulated by addition of nonionic surfactants.
