Abstract
Within epidemiological research there are a number of study designs that can be used to answer the research question. All of these designs have pros and cons, as well as do's and don'ts. This chapter provides a clear overview of the different study designs available, and the pitfalls, as well as strengths and weaknesses. It shows how to match the proper study design to research questions, and also how to judge the study design used in other studies.
