Abstract

The preparation of a new type of dinuclear ferrocene compound containing a -CH2-N(R)-CH2-bridge is reported. These new dinuclear ferrocenes exhibit a moderate degree of electronic communication between the two ferrocene subunits, which is disrupted by protonation or N-methylation of the bridge's tertiary nitrogen atom.
