SPLITTING-TENSION TEST FOR FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE.

Abstract

The splitting-tension test can be used to determine the characteristic tensile parameters of fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) commonly obtained with the standard flexural test. First crack and ultimate strengths, as well as toughness indexes, are computed from the load deformation diagram generated with a specimen0apparatus0procedure more convenient than that of flexural or direct tension tests. Experimental data for different types and contents of steel fibers are reported and FRC response, as obtained from the literature for similar compositions, is shown.
