Abstract

The long-term stability of a CoCrPt perpendicular storage media was investigated by thermal aging. A comparison to the thermal aging was done with a set of disks in which deterioration of the magnetic bit pattern was induced by an external magnetic field. For aging in a magnetic field, it was found that below a certain threshold value, mostly low-density patterns were affected by the aging process.
