Abstract

Secondary intention healing is a valuable tool that should not be overlooked by the dermatologic surgeon. Its management is straightforward and complications usually observed with surgical closures, such as hematomas, seromas, or flap/graft necrosis, do not occur with secondary intention healing. Location is the most important factor when using secondary intention healing; specifically, it works well in concave areas, such as the nose, eye, ear, and temples.
