Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) Pretty vacant: The unsymmetrical complex 1 contains one saturated 18-electron rhenium atom and one unsaturated 16-electron rhenium atom with a vacant coordination site. CO and NCMe can add to 1 to yield complexes in which both metal atoms have 18-electron configurations. Surprisingly, the added ligands are coordinated to the metal atom in 1 that originally had the 18-electron configuration.
