Abstract
In this study, purified porcine islets were separated from the adult pig pancreas using a previously described method, and transplanted beneath the renal capsule of nude mice. The results suggest that porcine islets are well preserved and morphologically intact in all the recipients one month after transplantation. The functional integrity was also confirmed in two nude mice with streptozotocin-induced diabetes.
