Abstract
A sensitivity analysis has been made of the flutter characteristics necessary for the design of complex structures such as a supersonic aircraft wing. Exact expressions are derived for the rates of change of flutter Mach number and flutter frequency with respect to the design parameters of the actual wing. It is indicated how these derivatives can be used successfully to approximate the flutter behavior of the new designs. Numerical examples for a double-wedge airfoil and for a delta wing are presented.
