Propolis contact dermatitis

Abstract

We patch tested 612 patients with propolis 10% pet. in addition to the ICDRG series, from October 1983 to September 1984. Six had a strong positive reaction to propolis. The allergen in propolis is still unknown. Since propolis is widely used by the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, it should be included in the patch test series for patients with drug or cosmetic dermatitis.
