Abstract

The procedures encompassed by interventional nephrology include ultrasound-guided renal biopsy, tunneled HD catheter insertion, placement of PD catheters, and percutaneous endovascular interventions for arteriovenous HD accesses. Many nephrologists routinely perform these procedures safely and successfully, primarily on an outpatient basis, thereby minimizing procedural delays and hospitalizations, as well as reducing costs.
