Abstract
α Fetoprotein was detected in a patient with alcoholic hepatitis during the acute phase of the illness. The α fetoprotein was no longer detected as clinical improvement developed. No evidence of malignant disease was found after an extensive evaluation. This case represents another example of a non neoplastic disease associated with the presence of increased serum levels of α fetoprotein.
