Abstract

General expressions are derived for the spectral degree of polarization and for the spectral degree of coherence of a beam generated by the superposition of two stochastic electromagnetic beams. A method to calculate the mutual cross-spectral density matrix of the superposed beam is discussed, as well as experiments to determine it.
