Abstract

Nonimmunologic (Coombs' test negative) hydrops fetalis may be caused by a variety of conditions. The authors describe a newborn infant in whom cardiac enlargement, congestive heart failure, and hydrops fetalis were caused by a vascular shunt through a large placental arteriovenous malformation (chorioangioma).
