Abstract

Provides a description and an understanding of the turbulent mixing processes associated with the meanders of the Gulf Stream and of the corresponding diffusion of tracers. The authors concentrate on synoptic time and space scales that are characteristic of the life of the meanders. A large number of particle trajectories are simulated, and diffusion processes are studied by considering the concentration of the particles in space. -from Authors
