Abstract
A Pareto Genetic Algorithm is applied to the design of satellite constellations. The Pareto Genetic Algorithm is a multi-objective optimizer that generates groups, or "families", of optimal solutions. The technique developed in this paper combines the Pareto Genetic Algorithm with Satellite Tool Kit, a commercially available software package that performs satellite performance analyses, to produce a new powerful tool for designing optimal satellite constellations. Several constellations for continuous global coverage are presented.
