On the natural vibrations of systems of elastically connected concentric thick rings

Abstract

The derivation and solution of the differential equations governing the flexural vibrations of a system of elastically connected concentric circular rings is presented. The effects of rotary inertia and shear deformation are considered in deriving the equations of motion. By using these equations, the particular case of a two ring system is analysed in detail and the results are compared with the experimental values given by Stead, Liu and Hoppmann II.
