Abstract

Bodipy-iercing: A Bodipy dye decorated with an ammonium at the tip and gallate-shaped flexible chains at the periphery was found to self-assemble into fluorescent nanoparticles in the presence of water (see figure). These nanoparticles act as a host for outside dyes equipped with paraffin chains, which can efficiently transfer their electronic energy to the host.
