Lipid material, amounting to 20 to 25% of the protein present, was found to be associated with the aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase complex. Evidence is presented that these lipids are almost exclusively the cholesterol esters of about seven or eight fatty acids. These lipids may be involved in maintaining the structure of the complex.
