A case of non metastatic bladder carcinoma associated with leukemoid reaction, thrombocytosis and hypercalcemia is presented. The hematologic abnormalities and hypercalcemia disappeared after cystectomy. A brief review of the literature on leukemoid reactions and thrombocytosis in association with malignancy is presented. Recent studies suggest a humoral mechanism for these unusual effects. An awareness of the hematologic abnormalities complicating the tumor is useful in general management and in evaluation of the response to therapy.
