Laser writing of low-loss polymer channel waveguides

Abstract

Laser writing of low-loss polymer channel waveguides was presented. The fabricated waveguides were tested by fiber butt coupling using 1550 nm diode laser. The laser writing induced refractive index change was measured by prism coupling technique. The refractive index change was found to be on the order of 10-3 depending on laser writing power.
