Laser-induced fluorescence study of radiative lifetimes and quenching rates in CS A1Π(υ = 0)

Abstract

Radiative lifetimes and quenching rates have been measured for rotational levels of CS A 1Π(υ = 0) throughout the region of perturbation by the a′3 Σ(υ = 10) state. The measured lifetimes reflect the extent of mixing with the a′3Σ state and from the unperturbed value of τ = 171 ± 10 ns the oscillator strenght and transition moment of the CS A 1Π-X 1Σ(0,0) band are calculated to be f00 = 1.0(±0.1) × 10-2 and Re (r00) = 0.32 ± 0.09 au, respectively.
