N2 - Laparoscopic lymph node dissection plays a well-defined but limited role in urologic oncology. Laparoscopic lymph node dissection for prostate and testicular cancer represents the spectrum of expertise needed to perform these operations successfully. With adherence to the oncologic principles mandated in surgery, multiple studies have confirmed the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of these two procedures over the long term. The steep learning curve for laparoscopic surgery continues to be the largest obstacle to the permeation of these procedures to the general practice of urology. With time, refinement of techniques, and advancements in technology, these procedures may become easier and more common in the coming years.
