Abstract

Research on internet and social media phenomena has been the fastest growing area of inquiry in communication science. New methodologies such as "big data" and network analyses are utilized to research an always evolving field and to expand existing theories. Credibility and reliability of online information, as well as the engagement and influence within online networks, are important research areas with major political and societal implications.
