Herniation of the left atrial appendage

A case of herniation of the left atrial appendage through a partial defect in the left side of the pericardial sac is presented. The diagnosis was suspected on the basis of the chest roentgenogram and was proved by right and left heart cineangiography. The differential diagnosis is discussed.
