Abstract

Mixtures of posterior pituitary hormones were fractionated by filtration through Sephadex gel columns. Several solvent systems and column materials are given for a successful separation of lysine vasopressin from a-MSH and of The latter from α-MSH. Oxytocin, partially purified by chromatography on carboxymethyl cellulose, can be obtained in a high state of purity by molecular sieving on dextran gels. The technique described is fast and simple and can be used with very small or very large quantities of material.
