Abstract
We report the experimental observation of focal shifts in partially coherent beams of Gaussian Schell-model (GSM) type focused by a circularly apertured thin lens. The relative focal shift increases as the aperture radius or the state of coherence of the GSM source decrease. The experimental results agree well with theoretical predictions.
