Abstract

The management of the metabolic disturbances associated with psychogenic vomiting is difficult. We report the effect of cimetidine in a patient with severe chronic metabolic alkalosis and perisistently alkaline urine. Cimetidine administration produced a definite but incomplete correction of the fluid-electrolyte and acid-base abnormalities, commending further evaluation of its potential benefit in the treatment of patients with this condition.
