Abstract
The effect of pressure on the association of Mg2+, Ca2+ and Na+ with SO42- in seawater is estimated from partial molal volume data. The results indicate that the concentration of the ion-pair MgSO4° in seawater decreases with increasing pressure as expected, rather than increasing as estimated by Kester and Pytkowicz (1970).
