A significant decrease in lactose levels (p<.001) and of glucose peaks after an overload of lactose (p<.01) was found in 10 patients with duodenal ulcer after a treatment for 35 days with 1,2 grams of Cimetidine daily, when they were compared with a group treated by placebos. Also, a significant increase in the diarrhea associated with the overload of lactose (p<.005) was obtained. The relation between the increase of the pH and the decrease of the lactose values was significant (r=0,44 - p<.01).
