Abstract
The analysis of beams and plates that carry axial loads is of practical importance. The influence of inplane loads is of greater significance when the loads are compressive. The dynamic inelastic behavior of beams and columns under axial loads is studied in this paper. The analysis is based on the use of modified stiffness matrices which are functions of the inplane loads. The aim is to establish the effects of inelastic interactions between forces and displacements that are uncoupled in the small deformation elasticity theory.
