Abstract

To determine techniques and diagnostic criteria in Doppler. 703 accredited laboratories were surveyed and 261 (37%) respondents were tallied. The following was included: carotid occlusive disease (COD), peripheral venous thrombosis and insufficiency (PVTI), peripheral arterial disease (PAD), mesenteric (MS) and renal stenosis (RAS). Univariate data analysis: SYSTATS. COD: 99%; CCpsv = 100%; ICpsv = 100%; ICedv = 94.7%; color and duplex 98%; angle correction (>30°<60°) = 61%. Criteria; Strandness 72%; NASCET 56%; ACAS 40% and Bluth, et al 25%. PVTI: 100%; CFV = 100%; FV = 100%; PV = 100%; PTV = 93%; PEV = 84%; color/duplex 96%; compression 99%; augmentation 98%; spontaneity 99%; phasicity 98%; acute thrombosis: loss of modulation/phasicity 98%; non-compressibility 100%; venous distention 93%; insufficiency: flow reversal with spectral 90%. PAD 71%; CFA 98%; SFA 96%; PA 97%; pressures 91%. MS 27%; CA 91%; SMA 93%; Criteria: Moneta 86%; RAS 67%; Rapsv = 180 cm/sec (59%); RA/AO ratio 91%. Standardization may result in greater efficiency, accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
