Abstract

This paper explores both theoretically and experimentally the distortion of particle size distributions in a number of commonly used aerosol instruments including cascade impactors, both conventional and low pressure instruments, and optical particle counters. Ammonium sulfate aerosols under humid atmospheric conditions are taken as a test case for this study.
