Abstract

This chapter describes in detail the surgical steps for performing an open approach dermatofasciectomy to releasing Dupuytren’s contracture. It is considered a more radical approach to treating Dupuytren’s disease than partial fasciectomy. It is utilized by some surgeons in instances of more severe, recurrent, diffuse, aggressive and/or skin-involving disease types. Full thickness skin grafting for coverage of the wound(s) after fasciectomy are also described. Indications, surgical steps, postoperative care, an operative dictation template, and suggested readings/references are included.
