Abstract

The authors compare the method of moments and relaxation labelling for the automated, objective registration of medical images obtained from complementary imaging modalities. Automated, objective image registration is necessary for precise correlation of medical images obtained at different times or from different tomographs. This application is concerned with using brain anatomy images obtained from a magnetic resonance imager (MRI) to assist in the analysis of metabolic brain images obtained from a positron emission tomograph (PET).
