note = "Funding Information: In an effort to provide a valuable and clinically relevant postgraduate medical experience in this discipline, 3 academic centers in the United States currently offer fellowships in clinical lipidology. The New York University Langone Medical Center's 1-year fellowship in preventive cardiology exposes trainees to a broad variety of inpatient and outpatient consultative experiences, academic conferences, apheresis, and the opportunity to participate in clinical research. The Baylor College of Medicine's 1-year fellowship in clinical lipidology exposes trainees to inpatient and outpatient care, clinical and/or translational research, and, if elected, basic research training in metabolism, inflammation, and vascular biology. The Medical University of South Carolina's 1-year postgraduate program focuses on proficiency in the management of common and complex lipid disorders, implementation of effective strategies for the primary and secondary prevention of ASCVD, provides education in the treatment of obesity, offers opportunities in original and ongoing research in atherosclerosis, lipids, and obesity, and provides a core curriculum lecture series on 20 topics chosen to enhance the clinical and research skills of the trainee. The fellowships in clinical lipidology currently offered by these academic centers are funded through a variety of sources including National Institutes of Health training grants, grants from other organizations, university funding, and private donations.
