Abstract

Hypothalamic preparations (GHRH) which release GH from the rat pituitary in vivo and in vitro, as measured by bioassay, were tested in normal men. Six subjects received GH-releasing material of porcine origin, two men were injected with GH-RH fractions prepared from human hypothalami, and the synthetic decapeptide corresponding in structure to the porcine substance was administered to three additional volunteers. No convincing increase in plasma GH levels was found with any of the preparations.
