Clinical approach to the development of interstitial therapy of primary breast cancer

Abstract

The Ophthalmic Biophysics Laboratory at the University of Miami has developed an approach using laser interstitial therapy with a single probe to achieve an interstitial field of 30mm to a heat level that will kill all of the cancer as well as the surrounding stroma. Current effort is focused on developing a method of determining the treatment field with digital imaging.
