Abstract

A case of carpal tunnel syndrome presenting with prominent nail changes in a 59-year old housewife is described. The nail abnormalities of the first three fingers of the right hand consisted of mild paronychia, small areas of leukonychia and Beau's lines. A mild atrophy of the thenar muscles was also present. The patient complained of numbness, tingling and sensory loss in the first affected fingers. The electromyographic study confirmed the diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome.
