Abstract

The leukocytes of chickens immunized with live Rous associated viruses (RAV), RAV 1 or RAV 6, responded in an in vitro leukocyte blastogenic transformation assay when stimulated with either the homologous or heterologous viruses as antigens. This phenomenon appeared related to a cellular response to a common or cross reacting cell surface antigen induced by several virus subgroups of the avian leukosis sarcoma complex and seemed to correlate well with other recent in vivo and in vitro studies.
