Abstract
While the etiology of many cutaneous ulcers still cannot be diagnosed reliably by histologic examination, there are situations where histologic evaluation is extremely helpful and, at times it is of dramatic benefit. As in other clinical situations, the biopsy is best used as a consultation: a query formed from the clinical circumstances of the individual case must first be formulated.
