Abstract

The purposes of this study were two fold. First, to determine serial serum and bile concentrations of cefamandole following an intravenous injection of 1 and 2 g of this drug. Second, to determine intraoperative concentrations of cefamandole in serum, fat (a poorly vascularized tissue), muscle (a well vascularized tissue), gallbladder bile, common bile duct bile and gallbladder tissue, following a preoperative 1 g dose of this antibiotic to patients undergoing biliary tract surgery.
